New Furniture

Since moving into the new place, I’ve been meaning to buy some new bedroom furniture. My bedroom currently just has a bed on a metal frame in it. No night stand, no dresser–nothing really. I keep the clothes I don’t hang in a multidrawer rubbermaid container.

I’ve been eying this bedroom set for a couple weeks now at Dania, but have been on the fence because of the cost in the current uncertain economy. Even though I have a decent amount of savings right now, buying all of this basically comes out to two months rent should something happen to my job.

After walking around Greenlake with Robert yesterday (it was a spectacular day here in Seattle), we went over to the Dania on Roosevelt & 65th to look again. I ended up ordering the dresser and nightstand, which are scheduled to be delivered this week. The bed wasn’t in stock, but I was able to put down a $50 deposit to hold one when a new shipment comes in (estimated to be January). Once the dresser and nightstand arrive, I’ll have a better idea about the available space in my room and necessary storage space in the dresser. If I want to order the chest, they can add that to my bed order as well.

Really, the nightstand and dresser are more needed than the bed and chest right now anyways. I also feel a lot better financially spreading the acquisition of different pieces out over the next few months.
