Faustrecht der Freiheit

Usually, it’s the American movies that get stupid German titles in translation, but this one’s an exception. Faustrecht der Freiheit translates literally as ‘Fistright of Freedom’ which frankly sounds a heck of a lot cooler than ‘Fox and his Friends’. Leo glosses it as ‘law of the jungle’ and ‘right of force’. Oh well, I watched the movie last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely one of my favorite Fassbinder films to date I’d have to say. It’s interesting in that Fassbinder wrote, directed and starred in this movie. I didn’t realize it was him playing the lead until I looked up the film on IMDB afterward. What a goofy looking guy.
