Memes are dumb but informative

After seeing Lisa list all the places she’s lived (very impressive), I decided I might as well too as a means of reflection:

  • Anaheim, CA (11.5 years)
  • San Clemente, CA (6.5 years)
  • Berkeley, CA (9 months)
  • San Clemente, CA (3 months)
  • Berkeley, CA (2.5 years)
  • Bayreuth, Germany (5 months)
  • Berkeley, CA (1 year)
  • San Clemente, CA (1 month)
  • Saarbrücken, Germany (1.5 years)
  • Berkeley, CA (3 months)
  • Carrboro, NC (1 year and counting)

  1. i started a meme?! K0OL! |m 7337 n0w.

i can see now why you’re less inclined to think westward. if i had spent that much time in california, i’d want to live elsewhere too.

and “too bad” you were too young in anaheim so you never got to do the anaheim equivalent of working in the mall and work for the mouse like all my OC friends did… of all things foreign to me, having your highschool job/hang out be working/hanging out at disneyland really disturbs me.

  2. Yes, Lisa you’re l33ter than l33t lunch I think, which is probably not saying much.

Even though I wasn’t old enough to experience Anaheim to its fullest myself, I did see it happen around me. My mom used to work at the China Shop and then later Circle Vision inside Disneyland.

Granted living in San Clemente was not terribly different. Just add some more rich kids and replace Disneyland with the beach.

That said, in the most pure sense I do prefer the west coast to the east coast. There’s just something different about people in California that I can’t put my finger on. Ultimately, I am “one of them” as most east coasters would say. That said, it’s not bad at all living in the Triangle and I plan to stay here for a while (how long, I don’t know exactly). Lately my wanderlust has crapped out quite abruptly for some reason. Maybe I’m getting old and settling down or maybe I just need a break from moving.
