The Lake

We (Carol, Ipek, Marie, Jeff, Mike and I) went over to Jordan Lake today to beat the heat and do something different. We got there kind of late and it since it was crowded, had no luck getting a grill right away. After laying around doing some swimming, we eventually got a table and grill that these people weren’t really using. The swimming area was tiny and there were quite a few people around, but it was still refreshing to be submerged in relatively cool water.

I believe today was the first truly summery day we’ve had this year. It was supposed to be about 90F with a dew point of 72F in Chapel Hill today and I doubt it was too far off. You can definitely feel the humidity and of course the heat, but the aclimation I went through last year seems to still be with me now.

Tomorrow I need to take my bike in for the scheduled tune-up. On Saturday, my chain fell off twice and got jammed in between the front chain rings. Both times it happened when I shifted from gear 3 to gear 2 while starting to pedal at an intersection. Hopefully, they’ll be able to take a look at that too, although I’m hoping the regular maintenance will fix the problem. I was supposed to take it in this morning, but the lake trip interfered too much, since we met at 11:30am and The Clean Machine doesn’t open until noon. Anyhow, I’m planning to take it in first thing tomorrow morning.
