On Friday, I finshed up grades, packed and got out of Berkeley at 6pm. I hit a little traffic out at the 680/580 interchange, but nothing too bad. Since I didn’t get to San Clemente until around 1:30am, my dad and I left at around 10am the next morning. Here’s roughly how the itinerary worked out:
Sat 8/14: 10am PDT to midnight MDT (~12 hours), ~730 miles, Grants, NM (about an hour west of Albuquerque),
Sun 8/15: 9am MDT to 11pm CDT (~13 hours), ~813 miles, Alma, AR (just over the Oklahoma border),
Mon 8/16: 8am CDT to 8pm EDT (~11 hours), ~663 miles, Knoxville, TN
Tues 8/17: 9am EDT to 2pm EDT (~ 5 hours), ~335 miles, Carrboro, NC
Since then, I’ve just been taking care of a lot of school and every day stuff. I bought a new bed, tried to get my driver’s license (didn’t have the right paperwork), went grocery shopping. Also, I went to a full day and a half of meetings at school for orientation and the departmental research fair. I talked to several professors and I’ll talk to some more of them in detail on Monday. Then classes start and then I’m off to Grenoble for 10 days for Eurographics. I still need to finish up my talk for that. That’s my plan for the weekend.
