Chateau, Chateau, Chateau

I spent most of Thursday over at Le Chateau for a work party, then board meeting, then just trying to take in the place to f igure out what’s going on over there. For those who don’t know, there have been a lot of neighbor complaints over there. There was recently a strange article about it in that rag of a weekly paper, the East Bay Express.

The whole thing makes me a bit sad about leaving co-op (for the third and likely final time), although the affordability of housing in Chapel Hill (at least in comparison to the Bay Area) makes it not seem quite as bad. My brief stint on board in many ways was a nice way to close things out.

In other news, there’s just one more week of CS61B remaining. I’m feeling in the home stretch now. Although I’ve enjoyed teaching the class this summer, I do have to admit it has been a heck of a lot of work over the last seven weeks. At the same time, it’s not like things are really going to slow down too much for me. In about a week, I leave by car for North Carolina, which will hopefully by a bit relaxing. Almost as soon as I get there though, there’s going to be several meetings than I need to attend. Then on the 25th I’m off to Grenoble for 10 days, which while crazy should be nice actually. Unfortunately, I still need to work on my paper presentation for Eurographics that’s taking place there on 9/2.

So much to do, so little time. At the same time though, I’m really happy to be back in the thick of having so much to do. Looking back at my past few months in Germany, I realize how zombie-like my life had really become. I didn’t do too much other than work and even then, I didn’t really work all that much. It’s nice to feel productive and occupied, even if it means I’m not always getting a full amount of sleep.
